Payday 3 will add hostage negotiations and better stealth to heists

During the 2010s, Payday 2 dominated Steam charts, becoming a hugely popular game. Now almost ten years on, Payday 3 is finally set to release and it'll have plenty of gameplay upgrades to go along with the newly upgraded visuals.

Payday 3 has obviously had a graphical upgrade compared to the previous game but what about gameplay? In the latest developer diary video, Payday 3 devs explain some of the new mechanics:

In the video, we learn that heists will now have a new component – negotiations. Players will be able to take hostages now, holding them to keep the police at bay. You'll have the opportunity to trade hostages during the heist, freeing some to buy extra time for your heist, or trading them in later on for additional resources.

The developers have also worked to improve stealth gameplay. Now, guards will go through a search phase after becoming suspicious.

Over the next few months, we'll get more developer updates on Payday 3, revealing new features and mechanics. The game is set to officially release on the 12th of September for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

KitGuru Says: I really enjoyed Payday 2, although it did eventually get a little microtransaction-heavy. Will you be getting the gang back together for Payday 3 later this year?
