Final Fantasy 16 will be getting a day-one patch after all

While at first Square Enix confidently claimed that there would be no day-one patch for Final Fantasy 16, the company has now had to walk back those comments following the release of the game's demo.

The Final Fantasy 16 demo has been out for over a week now, offering up the first two hours of the game. The demo is very cutscene heavy, so while I did find the new combat system to be very fun compared to Final Fantasy 15 and even Final Fantasy 7 Remake, I did find myself getting a little bored. I would expect that cutscene moments will begin to be used more sparingly later in the game after the initial introduction.

The day-one patch for Final Fantasy 16 will look to improve the game's frame rate, particularly in areas with lots of characters on screen. The game's performance mode does not offer a locked 60FPS experience, so we can hope that there will be some improvements there too.

Final Fantasy 16 will officially release on June 22nd for PS5 consoles. The game will also be coming to PC, likely sometime in 2024.
