Apple are at the center of several smash and grab robberies lately. The latest store to get hit was in the Greenwich Conn location.
Robbers broke the windows at 3am Tuesday morning and made away with thousands of pounds of merchanise from the store. The store in Greenwich Conn is an upper class area well known as being the ‘hedge fund' capital of the U.S.
Apple's clean glass design looks great for customers, but unfortunately as Apple are now finding out, it means that this kind of robbery is a very easy process.
The criminals were caught on camera, but they were wearing hoods so it will be pretty much impossible to figure out who they are.
Other stores have been hit in the past. On Dec. 6th Tice Corner Apple store in Woodcliff Lake, N.J. was robbed just before 2 am. In 30 seconds they managed to lift iPods, MacBooks and iPhones.
In the next year Apple are due to open up to 50 new stores, so they may be looking at new methods to secure the store fronts from this kind of attack. The big question is, can they do it without ruining their minimalist approach to the appearance?
KitGuru says: Apple will be planning how to cut down on these robberies in the New Year.
