Microsoft to launch new online PC game store

In November Microsoft are planning to open an online games marketplace that will mean people can download titles such as Halo and Gears Of War.

Additionally, Microsoft are going to offer titles such as Grand Theft Auto from Rockstar and Fable: The Lost Chapters. The plan so far is to launch Marketplace on November 15th with 100 titles.

Partners lined up at this point include Rockstar Games, Capcom Entertainment, Square Enix and 2K Games.

Microsoft have said that their Marketplace will ‘remove the barriers between gamers and games” that existed in its current store. This new browser interface will allow for faster downloads and allow for redownloads at future dates, which is one of Steams biggest pros. Gamers can also access the store with a Windows Live, Games For Windows Life, Zune Account and Xbox Live Account.

Microsoft have led the video game industry in console sales, shipping 443,500 units of the Xbox 360 to beat both Sony and Nintendo. With the release of the Kinetic device we would expect sales to push hard in the run up to the Christmas sales.
