Viewsonic to showcase 4 inch phone/tablet hybrid at CES

CES always brings new products on display from all the leading manufacturers. The latest news in suggests that Viewsonic will be highlighting a new phone/tablet hybrid, much like the Dell Streak.

The Viewsonic smartphone will have a four inch screen and is capable of making phone calls across the Google Android operating system. Sources in the far east have said that the device will connect to the next generation telecommunications network, 4G. Viewsonic felt that Dell were onto something special with the 5 inch Streak which was released to overall critical approval, but has met with moderate sales. KitGuru reviewed the Streak several times, with different versions of Google Android running.

Viewsonic already have a 7 inch tablet called the ViewPad 7 on sale, but they wanted to expand into the high end smartphone market. Additionally, they are also releasing a new 10 inch tablet computer which should hit in Q1 of 2011. This particular device can run both Android and Windows, so it should help to appeal to a very wide audience, both in the consumer and business markets.

KitGuru says: Are you interested in seeing more Dell Streak style smartphones on the market?

  1. I think the Dell Streak was a great concept idea. it makes sense others would try and copy it. 5 inch was rather big, so 4 inch makes a bit more sense I think, especially for a younger audience. I cant see too many teenagers wanting to haul around a 5 inch phone.
