Kobalt release new Sandy Bridge notebooks

We recently tested Intel's latest desktop Sandy Bridge processors which really impressed us with their impressive performance.  But we haven't yet had a chance to test any Sandy Bridge based laptops to see how they compare to the previous generation models.

Kobalt Computers are renowned for producing some of the most powerful gaming laptops and desktops on the market and have just refreshed some of their notebook lines with the new Sandy Bridge processors and have more new machines in the pipeline to be released in the coming weeks.

The latest ‘Huron River’ notebook platform combined with the Intel® Core™ i7 ‘Sandy Bridge’ mobile processors provides the basis of a revolution in notebook performance. Based on 32nm technology and with a combination of smart features like the latest Intel® Turbo Boost 2.0 and Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology, which together activate full processing power exactly where and when you need it, provides an amazing increase in performance over previous generations.

The new ‘Sandy Bridge’ CPU’s outperform the 1st generation of mobile Intel® Core™ i7 Processors in synthetic benchmarks by an average of 34%. Its improved architecture provides faster clock speeds and thanks to its 32nm manufacturing process provides longer battery life and increased productivity. In the real world this means that your hardware will work harder, faster and more efficiently than any previous mobile solution.

Also new is the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX485M, the world’s fastest ever mobile GPU. With a Processor clock of 1150MHz , a massive 2GB of GDDR5 memory running at 1500MHz providing  96 GB/s of memory bandwidth and 384 CUDA cores, the GTX 485M is a revolution in notebook performance.  These mind-blowing figures provide frame rates at high resolution settings never before seen in a notebook and its massive CUDA core count provides the horsepower required for the most demanding of professional applications.

The inclusion into the Kobalt Notebook range of the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX485M makes the G150 the fastest 15” notebook ever available and its performance can only be equalled by larger notebooks with multi GPU setups.

The G150 15.4” and G170 17.3” Notebooks are powered by Intel® Core™ i7 Processors and  NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460 / 470 / 480M graphics. Both feature LED Backlit X-Glass screens, an array of Western Digital hard drives and OCZ SSD’s and are configurable with up to 16GB of DDR3 1333MHz Corsair Memory. Both machines feature THX True Studio Pro certified Speakers with sub-woofers and battery life in excess of 120mins with 8 cell 76.96 Wh batteries.

KitGuru says:  We have no doubt that these will be some of the finest machines on the market and look forward to testing them ourselves!
