James Murdoch, son of industry mogul Rupert Murdoch has said that the iPad exclusive paper ‘The Daily' should be available within the next two weeks.
The Daily is the heavily promoted digital only publication which was originally planned for a January 19th launch but was pushed back at the last minute. The delays were caused by a new subscription model for iTunes which Apple has been working on.
The price will be 99c per week or around 65p in the UK. News Corp are already leading the way with their other papers The Times and News Of The World which are offered for the Apple handheld device.
Murdoch says “I should be launching in the next two weeks, I hope. Sure enough, our audience has contracted dramatically but the engagement of the audience is very strong, our advertisers are happy.”
A report just in shows that many major magazine publishers are frustrated by Apple's current pay per issue approach and according to this report Apple have yet to pair up with other publishers, outside the News Corp deal.
Unfortunately for Apple sales figures of iPad magazines has dropped dramatically in recent months. Wired Magazine for instance saw 100,000 copies sold in June, but this has dropped to 23,000 in November of last year.
