HP CEO steps down after sexual harassment charges

Hewlett Packard CEO Mark Hurd has resigned after embarrassing allegations of sexual misconduct – not an ideal way to be leaving such a high profile company.

Mark Hurd has had a rather successful five years as HP CEO with his leadership driving the company into generating high levels of profit and leading the market in global PC sales. The CEO position has already been filled by HP's current CFO, Cathie Lesjak who has announced yesterday that she is only serving as company leader until a successor can be named.

Mark Hurd has unfortunately fallen foul to some personal issues, primarily a charge that he had been involved with sexually harassing a contractor. HP have made a statement saying that an investigation by an outside counsel cleared Hurd when it comes to HP's sexual harassment policy but have also decided that he had breached their standards of Business Conduct.

The HP board has set up a committe to find a permanent replacement and they have not announced any other management changes at this time.
