Samsung Mobile Display are rumoured to be Apple's partner for the liquid crystal display panels in the upcoming iPad 2, according to sources close to KitGuru.
According to these sources, the company is in the final stage of talks in supplying the latest LCD panel technology for the iPad 2 which is due for release in a couple of months. No one from Apple has denied or confirmed these rumours.
If this is to happen it will earn Samsung billions of dollars as before Apple have been using panels from many firms, including LG Display. Right now Apple are looking for the best deal for millions of panels, especially with rising costs in the production of the tablet.
Apple have been said to be showing an interest in the Samsung Mobile Display Super Plan to Line Switching (PLS) displays, first shown in November last year, which will enable the company to offer improved viewing angles to their customers.
Samsung have supplied a large amount of semiconductors to Apple already, so a strong relationship is already in place. If they can give Apple the right pricing for millions of panels then the company will be reaping the financial rewards throughout 2011.
KitGuru says: PLS technology will really enhance the iPad viewing experience.
