The iPad 2 is the hottest new product of 2011 and it was originally expected to be released around April. Latest rumours indicate that the release might be delayed until June. The reason is tied in with production bottlenecks.
Analysts Vincent Chen and Alison Chen with Taiwan based research firm Yuanta Securities Co have issued this report.
“Our checks suggest new issues are being encountered with the new production and it is taking time to resolve them,” said Chen. “As a number of Android 3.0 tablets are being launched in April and May, the delay in iPad 2 shipments may give the Android camp a brief window of opportunity.”
According to the detailed report, design changes which were made before the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday earlier this month have caused the delay. A June launch would also likely tied in with the next generation iPhone which has generally been released in June of every year.
The new iPad has apparently already begun production this month and reports initially indicated that Apple were planning a small event in March to mark the unveiling of the hot new iPad. News that Orange and T-Mobile had reduced their iPad 16GB prices indicated that a new model was waiting in the wings.
So what will you get with the new iPad? A FaceTime ready camera, a faster CPU and more memory mark the major improvements. Sadly it looks as if the high resolution Retina display wont make it to market until the iPad 3 is released in 2012.
KitGuru says: A few more months to go then before we can get our hands on the shiny new tablet.
