Apple ditch Nvidia for AMD in top end Macbook Pro range

Apple's new range of MacBook Pro's are going to feature AMD graphics on the 15 inch and 17 inch models, according to sources close to KitGuru in Taipei. The current top end Macs feature nVidia Geforce GT 330M graphics with 256mb or 512mb of memory.

Apple have been working with nVidia for a while now, but it appears that they are moving back to AMD for the upcoming range. Until Apple can get their own designs implemented, this tit n' tat between AMD and nVidia looks set to continue for many years. Right now Apple have yet to confirm or deny anything, but they never do, not until they make it official at launch events.

The new 13 inch MacBook Pro will probably be using the onboard Intel HD3000 graphics, but the 15 inch and 17 inch versions will have a dual GPU system depending on the systems activity and requirements. In low power mode, the Intel graphics will handle the display, but when pushed, the AMD solution will take over.
