iPhone 5 to get aluminum backing and redesigned antenna

Chinese sources are indicating that Apple may change the rear of the iPhone 5 to incorporate an aluminum design. This was used for the first iPhone, rather than the glass materials used on more recent models.

It appears that Apple have been listening to consumers as people have been complaining that the glass scratches easily. There are also the added benefits that aluminum is coloured much easier, meaning that recent issues with the white version of the iPhone 4 would be a thing of the past.

Apple are also redesigning the antenna, getting rid of the external iPhone 4 antenna design which plagued them with problems months ago. It certainly hasn't affected sales however, with Apple reporting higher than ever activations in recent months.

KitGuru says: These rumours have not been confirmed by Apple themselves, and the source site Economy Daily have a mixed record of correct predictions. We can believe however that the Chinese supply chain leaked the information, as they often are responsible for correctly leaked information, well ahead of official announcements.
