Internet Explorer 10 planned for quick release – preview available

This is an insanely fast paced industry. It seems like only yesterday when Internet Explorer 9 was released to critical acclaim and now we are already able to download an Internet Explorer 10 preview.

Internet Explorer 10 is due for release next year. “We built IE9 from the ground up for HTML5 and for Windows to deliver the most native HTML5 experience and the best Web experience on Windows,” Microsoft representatives wrote over on the IE blog. “IE10 continues on IE9’s path, directly using what Windows provides and avoiding abstractions, layers, and libraries that slow down your site and your experience.”

Internet Explorer 9 has helped Microsoft to be considered again as a serious browser creating force. The software has downloaded 27 times a second in the first day, notching up over 2.35 million downloads. Microsoft are keen to take back some market share from the increasing presence of Firefox, the geeks favourite browser.

Google's Chrome has been one of the most aggressively marketed browsers, with updates every week. A steady flow of patches, bug fixes and improvements suit the educated masses who want the latest, fastest browser possible. Chrome has already grown to over 10 percent browser share in less than three years, which is a phenomenal achievement. Mozilla are becoming just as aggressive, with a strict set of plans for a constantly evolving Firefox browser.

KitGuru says: It looks like Microsoft are waking up to the challenge, even if they left it for quite a while longer than they should have.
