Final Fantasy 16 is now officially out for PS5 owners and the countdown to the PC version has officially begun. Following the PS5 launch, producer, Naoki Yoshida, reminded fans that the PC version is indeed on the way.
Speaking on a Square Enix live stream, Yoshida explained that the PC version is still in development and needs plenty of optimisation to match the PS5 version. For instance, the team still needs to get the loading times down to enable instant transitions between locations and cutscenes to gameplay.
As pointed out by PCGamer, Yoshida says that the team hasn't “had the time to optimise the PC version”, so there's a big job still left to do. Yoshida says they'll be “sharing more about the PC version when the time is right”.
We already have a good idea of when Final Fantasy 16 will arrive. Previous releases like Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade arrived on PC around a year after their console launches. Yoshida has previously confirmed that it will take longer than six months to develop the PC version of Final Fantasy 16, with that in mind, I think we should expect the PC version to release sometime between March and June 2024.
