Rumor: Apple working on super thin 15 & 17 inch laptop

According to well known gossip site MacRumors, Apple are working on a new ultra slimline 15 inch laptop and they are reporting that it is in the ‘late testing' stages at Apple HQ.

Apple have had huge success with their MacBook Air range, as people queue to buy into the super thin, ultra portable range of computers. With the last revision of this range causing Apple to stop development of the low end Macbook it might be a good move to offer a super slimline machine, which is larger than the Air range.

MacRumors don't claim to know if Apple will call it a Macbook Air or a MacBook Pro, but it looks as if it will be borrowing many of the design elements from the current Air range. With Intel's Sandybridge onboard it will also pack quite a punch. We would expect the new model to also lose the internal optical drive, due to the thin chassis design.

TUAW claim that a 17 inch model is also planned, and that it might be released just in time for Christmas.

Super-thin really is a great performance and usability feature.

    Weak armed/knees people rejoice.

  2. They actually might be onto something.

People want a large screen for their laptop, but not the weight and bulk in a bag……. it will cost a fortune however. probably £2k
