Apple preparing for deals with music labels for new service

According to industry insiders Apple are close to achieving deals with four major recording companies for a new music service which allows users to stream songs stored on a remote computer server to a plethora of Apple devices.

A service like this would give the end user a great, easy accessible means to play music, without having to worry about storage capacities and buying a ‘larger' version of a device. It also means that no connection to a computer would be needed to transfer songs, such as before going to work in the morning.

Universal Music Group, a division of Vivendi SA are apparently close to signing a deal with Apple that will give them the rights to stream songs to customers. No fine details on the exact method of streaming has yet been detailed.

This new cloud service is probably going to be announced at the Apple annual developers conference in San Francisco which starts on June 6th. Details of songwriting loyalties can be long drawn out and discussions are going on behind closed doors this week.

So far EMI Group Ltd, Sony Corp, Warner Music Group Corp and Universal are currently in talks with Apple about the new service. If Apple achieve deals with the four major labels it will be a blow to both Google and Amazon who have also been discussing cloud music plans, but have yet to secure any deals with the major labels.
