Intel announced that their SSD 320 range of solid state drives are getting a warranty increase from three to five years.
SSD's have a good reputation for being reliable and while it makes sense considering a lack of moving parts, Intel are ensuring that customers feel more comfortable with their new purchase by extending their warranty plan. Their latest 320 SSD drives are getting an extension from three to five years. To make the deal sweeter, even those people who have already bought one with the older 3 year warranty will be extended free of charge to the full 5 years.
SSD's are gaining in popularity with many enthusiast users adopting one for a boot drive, subsidized by a larger mechanical drive, used for storage. Sales show that they still have some way to go however before they make it in the mainstream audience. For that to happen, we feel prices will need to drop even further.
KitGuru says: Extended warranty, can't be bad to that.
