Lies of P director addresses demo feedback

Lies of P is the latest Souls-like to capture the hearts of fans, letting you play as the famous Pinocchio in a cruel, dark Belle Époque world. Following the release of a demo earlier this month, the game’s director has now directly addressed many of the biggest complaints, promising a number of significant improvements come the game’s full release.

In a Director Demo Q&A released on their YouTube channel, Jiwon Choi – the game director for Lies of P – discussed many of the changes and improvements set to come to the final game when it releases on the 19th of September. Just some of the improvements include:

  • Dodging and Blocking feedback is being taken into account
  • Character movement, Lock-On, and Camera controls will be refined
  • Impactful hits will be more greatly emphasised
  • Enemy attacks will be more clearly choreographed
  • Graphics and load times will be improved through optimisation
  • Enemy audio will be improved

Having played the demo, Lies of P has a lot of potential. It did however feel as though some refinements in both gameplay and feedback were necessary (such as the lack of any impactful haptics). It is highly encouraging to see the team more than willing to take on player feedback in order to make the best Souls-like possible.

KitGuru says: Did you play the demo? What did you think of it? What feedback would you give to the developers? Let us know down below.

While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
