IO Interactive’s upcoming fantasy RPG may be an Xbox exclusive

Earlier this year, IO Interactive officially announced its upcoming fantasy RPG, in development at its new Barcelona studio. Previously, it was claimed that this game would be an Xbox console exclusive and a new document seems to confirm exactly that.

During the ongoing hearing between the FTC and Microsoft over the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, a document outlining Microsoft's internal profile on IO Interactive listed Project Dragon as one of the company's projects. In the platforms column, we see PC and Xbox Series X/S listed. Interestingly, the game is also seemingly classed as a shooter.

IO Interactive confirmed Project Dragon earlier this year, releasing the first piece of concept art, which you can see below:

It is believed that this game is still in early development and IO Interactive is also working on another major project, an original James Bond game. With that in mind, it could be several years before this game is ready for launch.

KitGuru Says: We've never seen IO attempt an RPG so it will be interesting to see what they come up with. While it is listed as an Xbox Series X/S and PC game for now, neither Microsoft or IO have publicly announced a publishing deal or partnership at this time.
