Nokia finish job cut negotiations

Nokia, the pride of Finland have completed job cut negotiations within some of their divisions at their headquarters.

Nokia previously announced that they would be cutting jobs within the organisation over the coming years. They have structured the removal of staff within the Symbian and MeeGo software development teams and talks are still underway within other areas of the business.

Nokia have indicated that the job cuts are going to happen in phases until the end of 2012. All employees affected will apparently be allowed to remain with the company under the end of 2011. The plans are to cull the total workforce by 1,400 people. The knock on effect will obviously lower the company cost structuring.

Other news indicates that Nokia have signed a deal with management consultancy firm Accenture PLC – who will take control of the development and support of Nokia's Symbian software platform until 2016. This means that 2,800 employees from the UK, US, Finland, China and India will be moving to Accenture.
