MSI announced on Friday the new X460 ultrathin laptop which is heralded as being the lightest laptop to feature the Intel Core i7 processor. The X460 is mated with the X460DX, which has dual graphics card toggling. They are thinner than an inch thick and weigh around 2kg.
The X460 will have two processor options, the Core i5 (2410M) or Core i7 (2630QM). The DX is a lighter model aimed at media and general use, rather than hardcore gaming as it will come with the Nvidia discrete graphics and MSI GPU boost technology with switch indicator. The DX won't have a Core i7 option either. Both machines can accept up to 8GB of DDR3 memory for intensive tasks.
Claims are, up to eight hours battery life and a metal alloy chassis (always a good thing to read). Other specifications include full wireless support, bluetooth 3.0, HDMI and VGA out, USB 3 ports and THX sound. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
Kitguru says: Very attractive looking machines indeed.
