Microsoft executive Tami Reller has spoken out at the Worldwide Partner Conference 2011, which took place yesterday in Los Angeles. She said that any PC today which is capable of running Windows 7 will be able to power the upcoming operating system.
Leading UK news site thinq_ ran a story yesterday from the event highlighting her commentary. Many enthusiast users are waiting with anticipation for the newest operating system which will hopefully build on the strengths of Windows 7.
Reller said “Windows 8 also runs the existing Windows apps that you use and love. They are just as easy to switch to, and you can use them alongside your new Windows 8 apps.” She also added that Microsoft have sold 400 million copies of Windows 7 and that it sold three times faster than Windows XP. Quite an achievement.
She added “Windows 8 also runs the existing Windows apps that you use and love. They are just as easy to switch to, and you can use them alongside your new Windows 8 apps.
Because it is a PC, it has a file system. The file system has your documents and photos, your videos and music. You can get to your photos from your existing Windows programs, as well as your new Windows 8 apps. And Windows apps can share information with one another, adding new capabilities to other apps. For example, your pictures will be available on your existing file system, as well as a photo service. No copying, no pasting or trying to save things. Just select the pictures, or unselect them. The apps will just talk with each other. And so, as you have more apps, the system just keeps getting more powerful.”

mind blowing -_-
… Tami Reller lays the “app sauce” on a bit thick doesn’t she
Not really. I only upgraded to Win 7 a few months back and that set me back £80, I don’t want to have to pay again within the next few years.
