High profile hacking group Anonymous, have spoken to leading UK news site thinq_ saying that they have formed a ‘political wing'.
It has been hard to escape the diluge of hacking news in recent months, with Lulzsec and Anonymous taking the headlines, almost daily. With the recent news of Lulzsec disbanding it appears that members have been moving across to Anonymous.
Thinq_ received an emailed statement which said “We are transitioning from attacking the system from the outside to restructuring it from the inside. “There are people from all political parties that support Internet freedom and civil rights. Although these people support our goals, they were averse to the tactics we used to advance them. Today, we are founding an Anonymous-affiliated political party. Our representatives will advocate for the internet and civil rights overlooked by other political parties of the world. We will do so legally, for the benefit of all people.”
“This political organization will begin a legitimate movement. Anonymous is now open to a wider variety of people, not just hackers and tech-savvy people on the Internet. All those who support Internet freedoms and individual rights will join our ranks.
“When we become a political force, we will have a legitimate impact on public policy. We will span across more than just governments. We will be directly involved in the political process, while fighting the corrupt practices that pervade it, and will use it to support individual freedoms.”
The Anon Party blog has more information on the story and they say that their mission is to provide anonymous with a legal channel with which it can fight for its goals of ‘internet freedom' and ‘civil rights'. They add that people who agree with anonymous' goals, but who disagree with their methods, also now have a chance to get involved on some level.

What a blind and arrogant man you are Hank. Ignorance is no excuse. This is a form of protest. i don’t agree with it but news stories like these tell us why these people are doing what they do.
I don’t support them but i can understand the difficulty in being heard on the web.
Honestly, you need to be bold in order to swipe peoples attention.
While what they may be doing is illegal, I can still see why they do it. They are trying to protect their rights as internet users. I feel like more people need to stand up for this before the whole thing gets censored. Right now, most countries have fairly unabridged internet access. However, we are seeing this change very rapidly. When that starts to happen, there are only two options, protest or lay down and take it.
