Reports in earlier today claim that 35 million South Koreans have had their personal information exposed after a hack on the company who run the countries largest social network.
SK Communications, who manage the Cyworld social networking site and the Nate portal site have been victims of code which has exposed names, phone numbers, email addresses and passwords. The reports originate from the Korea Herald.
SK said in a statement “The company has confirmed that a leak of customers' information has taken place due to hacking on July 26, The specific scale of the hacking is still being investigated, but it is estimated that some of the personal information of 35 million Nate and Cyworld members has been leaked.”
SK have said they are going to set up a hotline to help users deal with problems, such as phishing scams and spam.
Kitguru says: No one has yet claimed responsibility for the hack.
