New job listing hints at Back 4 Blood sequel

Turtle Rock Studios has struggled in recent years to recapture the simple yet addicting formula they created with Left 4 Dead back in 2008. Its spiritual successor Back 4 Blood showed a lot of promise however it unfortunately was unable to keep the attention of players for long. That said, it seems as though Turtle Rock might be giving the IP another go as a job listing has hinted at a sequel to Back 4 Blood being in the works.

As reported by VeryAliGaming, a new job listing posted by Turtle Rock Studios for a ‘Senior Combat Designer’ lists a number of roles and responsibilities – all of which seem to hint at the fact that the team’s next game is either a sequel to Back 4 Blood or something very similar.

Part of the description for the role reads as follows: “Ideally, you are someone experienced with combat/weapons, class design, skills, and boss encounters”. Additionally, the applicant will need to “work with the maps team to ensure mission layouts and gameplay synergizes with the player combat loop” as well as having a “Love of games: specifically FPS, Co-op, and Multiplayer games.”

All these stipulations could and very well might be referring to a sequel to Back 4 Blood. Regardless of what this game ends up being, it will seemingly run on Unreal Engine 5, with the job listing stating that applicants should have “experience with UE4/5 and Blueprint.”

Turtle Rock Studios have not had the easiest time following their work on Left 4 Dead 2. Hopefully this new game – whatever it may be – ends up putting the studio back on the map. We will have to wait and see.
