The legal war between Apple and Samsung rages on. Apple may have to reveal their sales figures in the UK and US to improve their chances of barring Samsung Galaxy 10.1 sales in Australia, according to a judge.
Bloomberg reported on this saying “Apple’s claim that the Samsung tablet’s release in Australia will hurt iPad sales may carry little weight if it doesn’t provide the numbers, Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett said in Sydney Federal Court today.
Unless Apple puts on evidence showing the impact in the U.S. or U.K., I can’t draw any positive assumptions,” Bennett said.”
The judge has said she will not force Apple to release sales figures and has actually denied Samsung's request for them to be released. Apple are claiming that Samsung are breaching some of their patents. Apple are therefore trying to block sales of the Galaxy 10.1 tablet in Australia until the matter is resolved.
Samsung have claimed that they wanted the Apple sales figures released, because it would prove that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has had little, if any effect on the sales of the iPad.
Neil Murray, Samsung's lawyer, told the judge “People want an Android product, so they will buy an Android product. This is not impacting the sales of Apple.”
In an interesting turn of events, Samsung say that Apple ‘stole' the design of the iPad from cult Stanley Kubrick film ‘2011: A Space Odyssey'.
Kitguru says: An outcome is just around the corner.
Well, as of now, there isn’t exactly a ton of sales in Europe because Apple already went crying about the to the EU.
I feel like this is like the little kids threatened by someone that might be better at sports. They always cry and whine about competition in the market. Apple, stop crying, put on your big boy pants and deal with the fact that Samsung has a good product that they didn’t steal from you.
