CBSnews.com faced an uncomfortable situation when it was associated with a fake Tweet over the weekend regarding the death of ex Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
The rogue Tweet was sent from the Twitter account of What's Trending, a web series which is produced by Disrupt Group and controlled by Disrupt co founder Shira Lazar. CBS in return have removed all content by the organisation from their site.
CBSnews.com were hosting the web series since May however the show has no direct partnership connection to CBSnews.com. Lazar, via the What's Trending account did post an apology which read “Apologies — reports of Steve Job's death completely unconfirmed. Live on.”
Her rather abrupt post did little to calm the situation and later she issued another apology from her own twitter account which read “On behalf of all of us at @disruptgroup we sincerely apologize for the inaccuracy of what was tweeted earlier today. – EP/Host @WhatsTrending.”
Her original Tweet was removed quickly, but it spread incredibly quickly and CBS were associated with the comment, which was very damaging for the organisation. CBS didn't waste any time trying to remove all connections with the Disrupt Group and removed all their content.
