Microsoft have strong backing from leading phone manufacturer HTC, who have went public with their support. Reports show that the faith in Microsoft isn't misplaced as 30% of their total sales are generated from Windows operating systems.
Critical reception of Windows Phone 7 wasn't as positive as Microsoft had hoped, however sales seem to be picking up a little, possibly with the latest Mango release which brought many new options to the tablet for geeky enthusiast users.
Melvin Chua, HTC Manager in Singapore certainly has strong belief in the operating system “We believe that Windows Phone 7 will eventually be better than other platforms and will give Android a run for its money”.
HTC have a lot of weight in the industry, they have some very capable designs on the market, and their sales figures are very healthy in many countries throughout the world. The HTC Evo and Desire have proven very popular with a wide audience.
We would expect that this public statement has earned HTC a few brownie points with Steve Ballmer and the Microsoft leaders.

My friend bought a windows 7 phone and it keeps hard locking. he is trying to update it to mango. hopefully that will cure it.
I think Android is a bit flaky too, iOS is the most stable mobile phone operating system. I dont own one, I have a blackberry.
