Windows Phone boss not impressed with Android or iPhone

Well this won't be that much of a shock to anyone reading this, but it appears that Windows Phone boss Andy Lees is less than impressed with his competitors. With the release of the their Mango phone update Microsoft's Lees has spoken out.

He chatted to The Seattle Times this week and he said that he is certain that Apple have missed an opportunity with the iPhone 4S handset. He is surprised that Apple didn't give their audience more choice in regards to the partnering hardware inside the handset.

While Andy Lees isn't that impressed, it appears that the consumer audience don't share his feelings. The iPhone 4S has already received 1 million preorders for the phone within the first 24 hours that it was on sale. This is in complete contrast to Microsoft who have yet to release detailed information on Windows Phone 7 sales. CEO Steve Ballmer said earlier this year that “We haven't sold quite as many probably as I would have hoped we would have sold in the first year.” This would indicate that the range has underperformed to date.

Lees didn't hold back in regards to Android either, saying that they were “heading down this chaotic phase'. Even going so far as to say that many of the Android phones ‘not so great'. He added that Google's Android platform seemed like “several cooks in the kitchen trying to bake different things with the same thing.” Referring to the ‘open' nature of the platform.

He stressed the strength of the Windows platform “Whereas we have much more coherency in the totality of what somebody gets when they buy our phone.”
