Blackberry services dramatically fail

Blackberry customers all over Europe, the Middle East and Africa have been facing online service downtime since yesterday. All of this audience have been served by a RIM data center in Slough. Services affected have been instant messaging, HTTP access and email.

Those users who are serviced by a corporate server appear to have been unaffected. RIM have been investigating the source of the problem and some services appear to have been back online from the early hours of the morning, although users are still experiencing issues.

This comes at a bad time for RIM who have been finding it tough competing in todays market against the new onslaught of Android smartphones.

Kitguru says: Q2 results indicate failure to meet sales targets and decline in profits for the company.
