Barnes and Noble have been forced into second place in the e-reader sector, behind Amazon's Kindle device. They are however due to release a new tablet on November 7th, according to internet gossip.
The makers of the Nook tablet sent our invitations for an event on Monday, as mentioned by the LA Times. The launch looks to be taking place at 10 am Eastern time in New York.
They said on the invite “Please join us for a very special announcement”. On the invite was the ‘N' logo which relates to their Nook series of tablets. The report added that the event will more than likely see an update to the Nook colour tablet.
Barnes and Noble have made some radical updates this year, with a software update which offered a web browser, games and even an email client. As it is based on Google Androids operating system, the opportunities for expansion are wide open. They also released a black and white e-reader with touchscreen in May.
With Amazon about to release the low cost Fire tablet, the market is heating up. They are going to lose $10 for every sale of the tablet and many reckon it could sell a lot of units due to the price, and store support alone.
