Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty roadmap includes Lies of P and Nioh collab

Back in March of this year, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja released Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – an open world souls-like which managed to break records for the publisher, cementing this brand new IP as an undeniable success. The team have now officially revealed the game’s post-launch roadmap, confirming a bunch of new content – including crossovers with a number of other similar Souls-likes.

Making the announcement via a Director’s Letter, Wo Long’s producer/director, Masakazu Hirayama officially unveiled the game’s 2023 roadmap, promising “to try and provide you with something to improve the experience every month!”

With that, every month from August onwards will bring with it a number of free updates to the game (with some paid DLC sprinkled in there). This month will see the addition of a new Boss Rush mission alongside balance adjustments and “feature improvements.”

September’s free update will add a new wizardry spell, “major balance adjustments and feature expansions” but most excitingly a collaboration with fellow Souls-like Lies of P. This month will also see the game’s second volume of paid DLC released. Dubbed Conqueror of Jiangdong, the DLC will bring with it a new weapon type; new story content; new missions; an additional difficulty option; new enemies, divine beasts, equipment and more.

October will be a light month for the game, offering just a few more tweaks and balance adjustments. November will likewise bring more subtle changes to Wo Long, though will also include a free crossover with Team Ninja’s other successful Souls-like Nioh.

Finally, December will bring with it more balance adjustments and an additional free wizardry spell. This however is when we will also get the 3rd piece of paid DLC: Upheaval in Jingxiang. Once again, this DLC will include a new weapon type; new story content; new missions; an additional difficulty option; new enemies, divine beasts and equipment – though will also bring with it some new endgame content.

It is interesting and encouraging to see the dedication that Team Ninja have for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Hopefully the paid DLC ends up being worth the cost.
