Arctic LGA1700-compatible CPU coolers will also work on Intel’s next-gen LGA1851 socket

In a reassuring move for consumers, Arctic has officially confirmed that all coolers purchased after October 23rd, 2023, will be fully compatible with the upcoming CPU based on the LGA 1851 socket.

This announcement is a relief for those who wanted to upgrade to the Core Ultra 200 desktop series and already had an Arctic CPU cooler, allowing them to save up some and reuse their current CPU cooling solution. Moreover, it also suggests that CPU coolers from other brands may also be compatible with Intel's next-gen LGA1851 socket.

Considering the LGA1851 socket has the same mechanical dimensions as the LGA1700 socket, it was only expected that older CPU coolers would work with the upcoming socket. However, they might not be optimal, considering recent reports claimed that the CPU's hotspot has moved slightly upwards. If this hotspot shift proves true, an offset bracket might help.

The Intel Core Ultra 200 desktop series is expected to be announced on October 10th alongside the new Z890 motherboards. The new CPUs and motherboards should only be released two weeks after that.
