According to a report made by Jason Perlew at ZDNet, Adobe are going to announce that they will no longer be making Flash player for mobile devices. They got a hold of the announcement which reads “Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations.”
Flash is not supported by Apple, with Steve Jobs making a very damning statement at the time claiming it killed battery life, hogged processor time and had security issues. I use an Android tablet on a regular basis (Motorola Xoom) and I have to say that Flash can be a rather painful experience slowing down web pages and even scrolling at times.
In other news Adobe have announced they will be laying off 750 people however details on which groups will be targeted has not yet been confirmed.
Kitguru says: Many people who use mobile Apple devices say that they don't really miss native flash support, especially as larger platforms such as Youtube use other methods to display the same content.
