China have passed the American market to claim the title of largest smartphone market by volume in Q3 2011. Strategy Analytics released the information today which shows huge growth as the phones become cheaper and more available to a wider audience in China.
Neil Mawston, an analyst at Strategy Analytics said “China is now at the forefront of the worldwide mobile- computing boom. China has become a large and growing smartphone market that no hardware vendor, component maker or content developer can afford to ignore.”
Reports indicate that China are leading due to huge levels of growth as their wireless carriers are offering wider plans, with a better choice of smartphones, aided by many cheap phones powered by Google Android.
Kitguru says: Other reports show that the American market is slowing down a little, with a wide audience waiting on the new iPhone to be released before jumping in with a new purchase.
Just what the world needs, another iphone.
