Our last competition with XFX was such a success that they wanted to reward our readers again with the chance to win their new flagship 1250W Black Edition power supply and a gorgeous HD6950 DD graphics card!
This power supply is a stunning showcase of engineering prowess from the guys at Seasonic, who partnered up with XFX for this flagship model. We reviewed the power supply on the 22nd of November and Zardon said “We pushed the power supply hard during our testing and managed to get an extra 142Watts before the protection circuitry would shut it down. We have tested the power supply with a Core i7 3960x Extreme Edition overclocked to 4.8ghz, paired up with 32GB of ram, and two Nvidia GTX590′s in Quad Sli. The total system drain was 930 Watts at the socket and this power supply handled it without even having to generate high levels of noise. Generally the power supply is basically silent, unless pushed very hard (1000 watts+ and it becomes audible).”
Can't get much higher praise than that !
Second prize is the very capable XFX HD6950 ‘DD' – you can read our review over here. Zardon said “The high end XFX HD6950 ‘DD’ is easily the most powerful card on test today and will suit gamers who like to crank all the image quality settings to the limit. When powering demanding titles such as Lost Planet 2 and Total War Shogun 2 the performance differences are noticeable in the ‘real world’, giving a smoother overall experience at 1080p. It does demand more juice at the socket, but it is still surprisingly quiet under load, making it ideal for gamers who don’t want to deal with irritating noise emissions.”
