Apple sued by Chinese authors for copyright infringement

According to Chinese financial magazine Caixin, Apple have been sued by a group of Chinese authors for $1.9 million USD. This is based around providing copyright infringing books for download  via their online store.

Nine authors have formed a group called the China Written Works Copyright Society (CWWCS) and have sued Apple in Beijing's No.2 Intermediate People's Court for copyright infringement of 37 pieces of work, Caixin reported over the weekend.

There is little information on the details of the material which is said to be breaching copyright although according to Reuters the CWWCS group have sued Google in the past for similar copyright concerns. We would expect the Apple legal team to be preparing for this already.

Kitguru says: There are more court cases online now that we can find time to write about. It is a sign of the times.
