Worm claims 45,000 Facebook logins from users

A new Worm has hit Facebook, stealing login information from more than 45,000 users. The ‘Ramnit' worm has mainly targeted users in France and the United Kingdom according to Securlet, a security research firm. McAfee have added that this Worm can infect Windows executable files and Microsoft Office.

Securlet said “We suspect that the attackers behind Ramnit are using the stolen credentials to log-in to victims' Facebook accounts and to transmit malicious links to their friends, thereby magnifying the malware's spread even further. In addition, cybercriminals are taking advantage of the fact that users tend to use the same password in various web-based services (Facebook, Gmail, Corporate SSL VPN, Outlook Web Access, etc.) to gain remote access to corporate networks.”

This is not a new Worm, first rearing its head several years ago, in April 2010, and infecting machines, stealing FTP information and browser cookies. Malware developers have enhanced the code, adding some from the Zeus Botnet. We would suggest that you all download an anti virus client if you don't have one already, and anti malware software. Then change your passsword login.
