Overclocking is all about getting something for nothing. It's about making impossible speed, possible. To celebrate the dark art of the overclocking, the world's leading component manufacturer has teamed up with Kingston Technology, Multiplay and the UK's fastest growing technology news and review site, KitGuru, to bring you a unique competition. If you believe you're the ‘King of the OC', then NOW is the time to prove it!
Starting now, ASUS UK, Kingston Technology, KitGuru are inviting the best of the best from the world of overclocking to step up and be measured.
Entry is quick and easy and won't cost you a penny. In a nutshell, send your CPU-Z scores to [email protected] and you're in. It is all based on the PERCENTAGE increase you can achieve – not the overall top speed. So a guy with a 1GHz processor that he clocks to 2GHz, will beat someone who takes a 2GHz CPU up to 2.4GHz. The 100% O/C achieved by overclocker number 1 will beat the 20% achieved by the second overclocker.
The 12 fastest will be invited to meet with Asus and one of the world's most famous overclockers at a secret location (with KitGuru helping to sort your travel costs). From there, it's a MAIN-STAGE-GRAND-FINAL at Multiplay's i45 at Easter – where the competition heats up and the prizes get very serious.
Using air-cooling only, run CPU-Z at stock speeds and then again when your OC has been set to MAX. Email those links to [email protected] and you're in.
The 12 fastest overclockers will be invited along to the finals.
At a secret underground bunker in Hemel Hempstead, controlled only by ASUS engineers, you will assemble and be briefed by world famous Overclocker, Paul Watkinson from BenchTec. You will then test your skills in the heat of O/C battle. KitGuru will cover up to £20 travel costs for this stage of the event and everyone who attends will walk away with a bag of goodies.
At the regional finals, held in February, each winner will receive NVIDIA GTX 560 and will also be invited to ASUS Overclocking Masters UK Grand Finals.
The Grand Final itself will happen at Multiplay's i45 event at the Telford International Centre on 5th May 2012.
The winner of the Grand Final will be crowned as the UK's Top Overclocker for 2012 and will walk away with an ARMY of prizes from ASUS, Kingston Technology, Intel, NVIDIA and BeQuiet.
