There is a huge audience who love to ‘open up' their iPhone handsets, verified today by the latest figures released by Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team. The joint developers of an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S have said that the hack was downloaded around 1 million times in just 3 days.
The jailbreak, codenamed ‘Absinthe A5' allows the user root access to their phone, as well as the capability of bypassing normal Apple restrictions. The developers of the hack used the app store that comes with the jailbreak, known as Cydia to track the number of downloads.
The jailbreak was executed on 491,325 iPhone 4S handsets, 308,967 iPad 2 tablets and 152,940 iPad 2s which were previously jailbroken on iOS 4. No doubt Apple will be fighting back soon with another update to block the current revision.
