Pileup in Japan trashes 12 supersports cars

A crash in Japan has been in the spotlight, due to the fact that it was a pileup of ultra expensive sports cars. Eight Ferrari's, a Lamborghini and three Mercedes sports cars were involved in the accident, costing more than $1 million.

Apparently it started when one of the drivers made a poor lane change, causing the pile up. Local police officers said they had never seen so many supercars in one place, and the drivers were all members of the ‘super rich', aged between 37 and 60. Only 500 Ferraris were sold in Japan last year, so when three of the cars get destroyed in a pile up, it is big news.

The drivers were all a part of a luxury automobile enthusiast group, heading north together from Kyushu to a festival in the city of Hiroshima, on the southern end of the main island of Honshu. No fatalities in the accident, but 10 people involved in the accident suffered minor injuries.
