If you can imagine a fully featured $199 tablet being released into the market you may not be all that crazy. Recently there has been reports surrounding a 7 inch Nexus tablet that would be available for just $199 later this year.
Android and Me has heard from two independent industry sources that Google has partnered with Asus to release a $199 tablet. This is the same price of an Amazon Kindle Fire which has brightly lit up the tablet world outside of Apple all by itself, selling 5 million units in Q4 2011 alone. The tablet would have a 7 inch display accompanied by a Tegra 3 chipset and a stock Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience.
Other sources also state that the tablet could go into production in April with a shipping date in June.
Last November Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang expected $299 Tegra 3 tablets to be available just six months after launch. This coincides near perfectly with a possible May-June launch of the 7 inch Neuxs tablet. To add fuel to the flames there could also be a 10 inch version in the works which would be available for just $299.
Kitguru says: Forget about the iPad 3, it's going to take a lot from Apple to match a $199 Google Nexus tablet.
