Job listings point to open-world map and RPG elements for EA’s Black Panther game

Earlier this month, EA officially introduced its new studio, Cliffhanger Games, led by former Monolith Productions head, Kevin Stephens. The studio's first project is an original Black Panther game, but we still know very little details about the project officially. Through new job listings, we now know that this will indeed be an open-world game.

In job listings for several positions, EA mentions that Black Panther will be an open-world game. Beyond that, EA also wants to implement a “highly innovative open story system”, which will add RPG elements to the game. This could hint at player choices and multiple endings or story routes.

Cliffhanger Games is led by Kevin Stephens, former VP of Monolith Productions, the studio behind the Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games. The studio is based in Seattle and was initially founded in 2021.

News of EA's Black Panther game began to leak out in 2022. As Cliffhanger Games is still hiring for key positions, there is still a long road ahead until this game releases.
