In a surprising move Samsung has waited until the end of Mobile World Congress to announce their newest Android smartphone. Unfortunately it is not the Galaxy S III but it is the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, which conveniently, due to its small size will be able to fit into any trouser, jeans or shirt pocket.
The low-end Android smartphone has a 832 MHz single core processor, 3 GB of internal storage plus a MicroSD slot to store all your music and videos. Although you probably wouldn't want to watch any video of length on the ghastly 2.8 inch 320×240 (QVGA) TN display. It will have a rather low-end 2 MP rear camera and a 1200 mAh battery. The Pocket is also rather heavy for such as small phone, weighing 97 grams.
The Galaxy Pocket will ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread (don't hold your breath for an update to Android 4.0) and Samsung's TouchWiz UX skin.
Samsung's lowest of the low Android smartphone will start shipping in Italy this month and other European and Asian markets soon.
Kitguru says: As much as we all love your flagship phones Samsung, please put a bit more effort into the low-end.
