Samsung has finally announced the availability of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the world's most popular Android smartphone, the Galaxy S II. The update will begin in European countries, starting with Poland, Hungary, Sweden plus Samsung's homeland, Korea.
The Korean smartphone giant also confirmed that Android 4.0 updates for the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, 7.7, 8.9, 8.9 LTE and 10.1 “will follow soon.”
“We expect that our customers will enjoy an enhanced experience with their Galaxy device through this upgrade. Samsung is committed to satisfying our customer needs”, said JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
Plus to keep those with slightly older phones happy, owners of a Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab 7, Galaxy S Plus or Galaxy W will be recieving a Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware upgrade which will inlcude some features straight out of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Some of these will include face unlock, snapshot, photo editor plus a whole lot more.
