Youtube uploads pass 60 hours per minute

Youtube bosses posted in a blog that the amount of video content uploaded to the sharing site has increased by a factor of 10 times since 2007.

They said “Since the dawn of YouTube, we’ve been sharing the hours of video you upload every minute. In 2007 we started at six hours, then in 2010 we were at 24 hours, then 35, then 48, and now…60 hours of video every minute, an increase of more than 30 percent in the last eight months. In other words, you’re uploading one hour of video to YouTube every second.”

To help people understand how much this is, a new website called onhourpersecond.com has been built to visualise the content which is uploaded over specific time periods.

The popularity doesn't look set to diminish either, claiming people were “Watching more as well; we’ve now exceeded four billion video views globally every day. That’s up 25 per cent in the last eight months and the equivalent of more than half the world’s population watching a video every day.” The numbers of people joining up are continuing to grow.”

Kitguru says: How much of the video content is actually worth uploading, thats the big question…
