Rumours suggest a Nexus device launch this month

For the last three years Google have been following a rather accurate schedule of releasing a new Nexus smartphone every twelve months. The Galaxy Nexus is nearly a year old and now rumours are suggesting a new Nexus smartphone and Android 4.2 will be shown off this month.

The rumours suggest just a single device will be shown at some stage this month. However, earlier rumours have suggested that their will be multiple Nexus devices from Samsung, LG and HTC.

Android 4.2, if true, will be presumably known as Key Lime Pie and be a progressive update, with the next major update arriving next year with the arrival of new ARM Cortex A15 based hardware. We found a new version of Android to be fairly unlikely, Jelly Bean was only announced in the last week of June. Instead we are probably looking at a point release, most likely Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Other reports suggest this will bring improvements to Project Butter and increased lockscreen functionality.

KitGuru says: The likelihood of a new Nexus device is high, but another new version of Android is unlikely to be announced so soon after Jelly Bean.

KitGuru Games: The Best Console is the One in Your Pocket

Emulation is the saving grace of the video games industry. Despite its controversial nature, the technology will be the only way in which all games are preserved for the future – free from licensing agreements and other such nonsense. Better still is the fact that in a majority of cases, emulation allows for a more accurate recreation of the game’s original experience than official offerings, due to countless complex shaders, filters and tweakable settings. And the best part? Thanks to the progression of technology, your humble smartphone is able to do all this and more – giving you the power of 10,000 games in the palm of your hand.
