Opera 12.10 beta gets OSX Retina support

Opera have announced their latest beta, V12.10. This new browser has Retina Display support in OS X to improve the viewing experience. Windows users aren't left in the cold as their version has received touch support in Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Opera has been tweaked to look better on Macintosh OS X for those people who have a new Retina capable machine. Text will be sharper and images will be crisper. Sadly the ‘all high resolution display' support they added doesn't cover any Windows machines.

Mountain Lion support is also added with Notification Center compatibility and a new Share button that can send out Web pages over Twitter, Facebook and other services.

The underlying code now supports Google's SPDY Protocol, already offered in Firefox and Chrome browsers. This will compress and encrypt HTTP requests and data to speed up browsing. SPDY is more secure than HTTP although it needs support on both browser and server systems.

Unprefixed CSS3 gradients, animations, transforms and transitions are now supported giving the correct rendering in Opera without developer tweaks.
