Tomb Raider reboot held back until 2013

The upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has been held back by Crystal Dynamics until early 2013. Fans were disappointed to hear about the delay of the new Lara Croft adventure, but the good news is that the company want to release the best game they can.

Darrell Gallagher, the chief of Crystal Dynamics spoke on the official game forums explaining that they are delaying the game to improve on the quality. He said they wanted to ensure they “fully deliver the very highest quality game.”

He added “When Crystal Dynamics first set out to reboot the Tomb Raider franchise, there were two goals that we were extremely passionate about. The first was to create a modern Tomb Raider game that would surprise and excite gamers. The second was to make this the best game of our careers, something we would be really proud to be a part of.

We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait.”

The new Tomb Raider game won't be hitting your Christmas list.

Let us hope the game manages to bring Lara screaming and kicking into 2013, with a fresh perspective but remaining true to the explore and puzzle genre.
