We have reported before on the rumours that Apple will be releasing an iPad Mini later this year. Our guy in Taipei – Yong Lei has been hearing murmurings now via some of his industry contacts now for many months. It looks as if Chinese portal NetEase has been hearing the same things.
NetEase claim that the new iPad tablet is due for release in Q3 this year to target the market that Microsoft are aiming to claim when they release their Windows 8 tablets. The report claims US prices between $249 and $299 with 6 million iPad Mini tablets ready for launch.
Apple experts claim that the release of a mini version of the iPad would help them control even more of the market. An area which Amazon have had millions of sales already, with their Kindle Fire.
NetEase claim that Pegatron and Foxconn are the two companies who will be involved in the creation of the device. Pegatron used to be part of Asustek, who worked with Google on the next line of Android Tablets.
Kitguru says: Has the size of the iPad stopped you from buying it? Would a 7 inch version hit the spot?
